PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a clean sound absorbing material having sound absorbing properties in a low-frequency range, does not require a process of assembly, etc., has a product thickness not thicker than necessary and no problem of scattering of fine particles and fibers. SOLUTION: The sound absorbing material (1) comprises: a matrix resin (2) constituting open cell foams made of a thermoplastic resin; and fibrous substances (3) that are incompatible with the matrix resin and dispersed in the matrix resin.
