PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monomolecular film in which hydrophobic groups or hydrophilic groups are regularly oriented at the nanometer-level, to provide a polymer thin film comprising the plurality of monomolecular films laminated. SOLUTION: The method for producing the monomolecular film is characterized as follows. A substrate is coated with the monomolecular film of a copolymer of a fluorosilsesquioxane containing one addition polymerizable functional group with an addition polymerizable monomer according to the Langmuir-Blodgett method.
