PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving member for linear motors wherein, even when a magnet holder is thermally expanded, force applied from the magnet holder to a pair of rails can be suppressed. SOLUTION: Multiple recesses 29 are formed in the portions of the magnet holder 15 opposite the pair of rails 19. These recesses are open in the direction extending from the magnet holder 15 to the pair of rails 19, and in the direction in which the respective pole faces of multiple permanent magnets 17 are opposed to each other. Air gaps for absorbing force applied from the magnet holder 15 to the pair of rails 19 due to thermal expansion of the magnet holder 15 are formed by the recesses 29. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
