PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tile-like building surface-finishing material used as an exterior or interior decorative material for a building and having a surface to which gloss and luster such as those in an automobile metallic coating can be relatively simply imparted and to which any desired color can be freely imparted and to provide a method for producing the surface-finishing material. SOLUTION: A tile-like surface-finishing material 1 for building which, like an automobile surface, appears glossy and bright is obtained by using as a tile base 2 a fired tile obtained by molding a powder material with, e.g., a press and firing the molding, an unfired tile such as a platy cement body obtained by setting a mixture of cement or the like with a fibrous reinforcing material or the like, or an inorganic plate material obtained by working stone into a plate, polishing its surface into a mirror surface, coating the polished surface with e.g., a polyurethane or acrylic resin coating material 3 used in automobile coating in a cleanroom, and drying the wet film.
