PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a load detector for an elevator easily mountable to an existing rope holding part while enhancing accuracy in detecting a car load. SOLUTION: Spring seats 17 for regulating the movement and extension of shackle springs 16 are mounted to the anti-main-rope 5 side of a shackle rod 15 by screwing a plurality of nuts 18. The shackle rod 15 receives load of the car 6 from the main rope 5. The shackle springs 16 receive load applied to the shackle rod 15 and extends/contracts between the spring seats 17 and a rope holding metal 14 to transmit load to the rope holding metal 14. A load detector body 20 has a case 21, a plurality of guide shafts 22 serving as guide parts, a plurality of detecting springs 23 serving as detecting elastic bodies, a detecting plate 24, a plurality of dry bearings 25, a plurality of push-up springs 26, a sensor mounting member 27 and a distance sensor 28.
