PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hall lantern for an elevator easily and detachably installable on the wall of a landing hall without being stolen by mischief. SOLUTION: This hall lantern for an elevator comprises a body part 8 so disposed as to cover the landing hall side opening of a through hole 10 formed in the wall 2 of the landing hall 1, a cylindrical cover 22 formed integrally with the body part 8 and disposed in the through hole, a spring 14 fixed to the body part 8 and having a first engagement part and a second engagement part, and pins 12 fixed to a pin fixing means 13 at positions engageable with the first engagement part 18 and the second engagement part 19. The body part 8 is movable between a regular fixing position and a body removal position. A keyhole 23 is so formed in the cover as to be exposed to the landing hall 1 when the body part 8 is disposed at the body removal position. A release bar 29 is inserted into the cover 22 through the keyhole 23 and presses the spring 14 to release the engagement of the first engagement part 18 with the pins 12.
