A spindle motor is provided to minimize the oil leakage of a bearing by forming a stopper on the bearing. A spindle motor includes a bearing housing(110), a bearing(120), a rotary shaft(130), a stator(140), a rotor(150), and a stopper(170). The bearing housing has an open top. The bearing is installed inside the bearing housing. The rotary shaft is rotatably supported by the bearing. The stator is fixed on an exterior of the bearing housing. The rotor is fixed on the rotor shaft and rotates by an operation with the stator. The stopper is a ring type and consists of a body and a protrusive rim. The body is fixed on the rotary shaft. The protrusive rim is formed on a lower part of the body. The stopper shields oil rising along an interface between the rotary shaft and the bearing and guides the oil to fall on an upper plane of the bearing.
