PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyethylene microporous film which, particularly in a liquid crystal display that modulates light intensity using a liquid crystal, is suitable for the retention and orientation of the liquid crystal, to provide a method for manufacturing the same, and to provide a liquid crystal display comprising the microporous film. SOLUTION: The polyethylene microporous film consists of a high density polyethylene or a linear copolymer polyethylene and has an average pore size of≤20 nm and a porosity of≥30%.
