PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase retrieval processing speed by reducing the frequency of range scan in a DB server. SOLUTION: This data processing system 10 comprises a DB server 14 and an AP server 12. The AP server 12 comprises a memory 26, a data processing section 22 for commanding the DB server 14 to read data related to a key item of a table, and an index creating section 24 for compressing the data transmitted from the DB server 14 and storing it as an index in the memory 26. The contents of the key item of the table are cached on the memory 26 of the AP server 12, so that all of the key item values are specified in commanding the DB server 14 to retrieve data, an SQL sentence obtained by narrowing a target record in a pinpoint manner can be issued, and the range scan in the DB server 14 can be reduced.
