PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processor capable of speedily retrieving an area of non-text information in a document, the non-text information, or its components with high precision, and a control method and a program thereof. SOLUTION: The area of the non-text information, the non-text information, or its components are retrieved by using metadata taking features, relation, etc., of the non-text information into consideration, and then displayed as a retrieval result. When retrieval results are displayed, other metadata relative to metadata regarding the respective retrieval results are selectably displayed.
