PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase driving force in a region of maximum output set in an output restriction mode when the output restriction mode is set as a control mode of an engine. SOLUTION: When a save mode m2 is selected as an engine mode M, target torqueτe is set in a basic target torque TRQ2 set by referring to a save mode map Mp2 (S44), and then, it is examined whether a torque converter is in a lockup state or not (S46), and upper limit guard values L1 and L2 having characteristics that are different between a non-lockup state and the lockup state are set (S47, S49). In the non-lockup state, driving force is increased by torque amplifying action of the torque converter, and the upper limit guard value L2 set in the lockup state is set to be higher than the upper limit guard value L1 set in the non-lockup state for the amplified magnitude of the torque, and the driving force can be increased in the same way in the non-lockup state and the lockup state.
