PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a movable column apparatus which can perform automatic insertion and extraction of a locking pin relative to receiving hole in spite of its simple constitution. SOLUTION: The movable column apparatus is provided with a movable center column 3A capable of rotating between a vertical posture and a storage posture, the locking pin 311 provided vertically movably relative to the center column so as to allow the locking pin to project from the lower end part of the center column, and the receiving hole 12 allowing the projecting locking pin 311 to be locked therein. The movable column apparatus furthermore includes a wire 9 connected to the lower end side of the center column so as to allow the locking pin 311 to move upward, a winding device 10 for winding/delivering the wire 9, a coil spring 312 for urging the locking pin in the projecting direction, and means 315, 316 for restricting the locking pin 311 from moving further upward after the locking pin 311 being moved upward by the winding of the wire 9 to be removed from the receiving hole 12.
