PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which rapid consolidation settlement is achieved stably by solving a continuous secondary consolidation problem following a primary consolidation problem in a soft and viscous ground. SOLUTION: Rapid consolidation settlement taking in secondary consolidation is promoted by generating waves of excess hydrostatic pressure in a target ground by repeatedly applying the excess hydrostatic pressure to predetermined excess hydrostatic pressure within a range that does not destroy the ground. A vacuum consolidation method in which loading and unloading are easy is incorporated in the consolidation method to obtain a comprehensive rapid consolidation method.
