PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide polyethers, a nonionic surfactant, an emulsifier, and a silicone-oil emulsion composition which, in comparison with conventional polyoxyalkylene-based nonionic surfactants and emulsifiers, are more difficult to oxidize in the presence of air and more difficult to produce an allergy-antigenic oxidate in storage and show a liquid state even at a high degree of polymerization, and also are excellent in the productivity/workability. SOLUTION: The poly(methyl glycidyl ether)s or poly(ethyl glycidyl ether)s have each the one end blocked with a 7-20C alkyl group or a 7-20C alkyl-substituted aryl group. The copolymer of ethylene oxide with methyl glycidyl ether or ethyl glycidyl ether is disclosed which has the one end blocked with a 7-20C alkyl group or a 7-20C alkyl-substituted aryl group. The nonionic surfactant and emulsifier comprising each such poly(glycidyl ether)s or such copolymer, and also the silicone-oil emulsion composition using the emulsifier are provided.
