PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for improving long period stability at low temperature having freezing possibility in a water-in-oil type emulsion type. SOLUTION: This emulsion type external preparation for the skins is characterized by comprising (1) carnitine and/or its salt and (2) a diglycerol monofatty acid ester and/or an N-acylglutamic acid diester. The emulsion type is preferably a water-in-oil type emulsion type, and the emulsion preferably contains an organic-modified clay mineral. In the oil phase, it is preferable that the sum of the content of cyclomethicone and the content of dimethicone having viscosity of≤1 mPa s is preferably≥50 mass% based on the total amount of the oil phase.
