A method for gas turbine operation is provided to control output power generated from a gas turbine having a rotational speed synchronized with the electrical frequency of a power grid. A method for controlling output power generated from a gas turbine unit including a gas turbine(54), a compressor(50), a combustor(52), an air extraction path(20), and a unit(80) for controlling the amount of air extraction, includes a step of starting air extraction, and a step of controlling the amount of air extraction during under-frequency state on a power grid(64). The method further includes a step of increasing margin to compressor ratio limits, and a step of increasing firing of the gas turbine.
