<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide ink jet ink for color filter, allowing manufacture of a color filter superior in productivity of the color filter, having small dispersion in flatness of a pixel part and color density in the pixel part, and superior in display quality without unevenness, and to provide a manufacturing method of color filter using the ink, the color filter obtained by the manufacturing method, and a display device provided with the color filter. <P>SOLUTION: The ink jet ink for color filter includes at least a colorant, an organic solvent, a cationic polymerization monomer, and a cationic polymerization initiator, wherein the viscosity of an ink residue part, obtained by drying for 8 hours in a condition of 5 mmHg (0.67 kPa) and 45°C, in such a state that the thickness is 1 mm or less is 40 mPa s or higher and 4,000 mPa s or lower at 25°C.
