PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shaft for a CVT and its manufacturing method which provide an excellent dimensional precision and durability, and can increase the productivity and reduce the costs by combining the shaft and a sheave made from another members. SOLUTION: The shaft 1 for the CVT has a shaft portion 2 and a sheave 3 externally fitted in the shaft portion 2. The sheave portion 3 has an inserting hole 31 to be inserted for the shaft portion 2, and has a plurality of teeth 4 projecting inward in the inner peripheral surface 311 of the inserting hole 31. At least teeth 4 are face-hardened to harden the surface before the engagement with the shaft portion 2. The shaft portion 2 has a combined outer surface 21 the diameter of which is greater than the diameter of an inscribed circle of the teeth 4. The teeth 4 is made to bite into the combined outer surface 21, and part of the combined outer surface 21 is plastically flowed to form a plastic connector 6, so that the shaft portion 2 and the sheave portion 3 are integrally combined.
