<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the writing efficiency of data in a data storage device which records a plurality of pieces of management information having the same contents. <P>SOLUTION: The data storage device 10 once receiving an instruction for writing to a FAT1 area from a host device records management information to the FAT1 area and also records the same information as the management information in successive addresses together as management information for a FAT2 area.
