PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a bias in the temperature distribution in the whole head, and to suppress sticking and the deterioration of a printing quality. SOLUTION: This thermal printer is equipped with a paper feeding means which carries heat-sensitive papers, and a thermal head for which a plurality of heating elements are linearly arranged on a line being orthogonal to the paper feeding direction. The thermal printer is equipped with a selecting means which selects the heating element to be energized. A plurality of dispersion patterns are switched for selecting the heating elements to be energized from among the plurality of heating elements by the selecting means, and the heating elements to be energized are selected by taking AND with printing data for one line portion in order. By using the dispersion pattern, the heating elements which are energized and heated on one line are dispersed, and the bias in the temperature distribution by cooling after the heating is reduced.
