PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent liquid spill by surely seaming the edge part of a can-top and also to make the edge part of the can-top so that the can-top can be seamed by small labor easily. SOLUTION: A placing part V on which a can body 1 is placed or an abutting plate 20 which is brought into contact with the can-top 2 is provided freely movably in the axial direction of the can body 1, the can body 1 is placed on the placing part V and also this device is constituted so that a gasket 4 is compressed with the can-top 2 which is moved with the abutting plate 20 which is moved on the side of the placing part V by being pressed and the can body 1 the position of which is fixed by the placing part V in the state where the abutting plate 20 is abutted and placed on the can body 1. Furthermore, the device is provided with a press-moving means A which is constituted so that a complementary action by which the separation of the can body 1 from the placing part V with the seaming motion is negated is added to the placing part V or the abutting plate 20 during seaming motion by a seaming mechanism part B is performed.
