<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the recording quality on an optical disk, especially jitters in the data overwritten for the fist time in an optical disk recording device. <P>SOLUTION: This optical disk recording device has an optical pickup, a laser drive to drive it, and a controller to controls this drive. The controller sets up the optimal recording power Pw and erasing power Pe by the OPC, at the operation of recording of data (#2). When data recording is the first-time overwriting ("Yes" in #4), it instructs the laser drive to increase the erasing power Pe larger than the value set by the OPC, while maintaining the recording power Pw set by the OPC. The power ratio ε(=Pe/Pw) is increased, as the erasing power Pe increases and is offset. The optical pickup records the data with the offset power ratio ε at the first-time overwriting (#5).
