PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical functional device that can exhibit a superior photonic crystal characteristic and that can reduce its wavelength dependability and make the device usable in a wide band wavelength region, in an optical waveguide structure prepared in a slab type two-dimensional photonic crystal. SOLUTION: A dielectric post Hn contained in the n-th (n is 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5) grid string Tn at least in the view from an optical waveguide 1 has a planar shape in an equilateral polygon or a perfect circle.
