<p>This invention relates generally to an abrasive wheel (20) and a power tool including the abrasive wheel (20). The abrasive wheel (20) includes a brittle abrasive body (28) that is rotatable around an axis of rotation having an abrasive working surface (30) for engaging a workpiece. The abrasive body (28) is lined with a body or layers (34, 48) having plasticity which extends around the circumference of a side wall portion of the abrasive body (28). The plasticity body (34, 48) is made from a plastic material having properties that enables it to resist an outward explosion of the abrasive wheel (20) should it fails, in use. The invention also extends to a method of confining fragments which may fly off a failing abrasive wheel (20), in use. Yet further the invention also extends to a power tool and also a method of treating a surface using a power tool fitted with the abrasive wheel (20).</p> |
