A spin drier comprises a drum mounted on one end of a shaft driven by a squirrel cage motor, the other end having a brake magnet mounted thereon. A spin drier 1 has a drum 6 driven on a shaft 5 by a two-pole squirrel cage motor 4 suspended by resilient rubber pins 3 from a partition 2, the lower end of the shaft having an impeller 7 and brake magnet 8 mounted thereon. The brake magnet comprises a disc 9 mounted on the shaft which disc has fan blades 10 mounted thereon having upwardly directed webs 12 secured to the disc and impeller. In a modification the fan blades have upwardly directed webs stepped at the edge adjacent the impeller and motor and in a further modification the brake magnet comprises two spaced discs mounted on the shaft, having obliquely arranged fan blades mounted therebetween. |
