A method for assessing the extent of the spread of colon malignant tumors comprises clinical, radiological, and endoscopic examinations. In addition, ferritine in the heparinized blood is assessed by radioimmunoassay preoperatively. Ferritine content of 112+- 20.4 ?g/L corresponds to the stage II (T2-3N0M0), 118+- 24.7 ?g/L corresponds to the stage III (T3-4N1M0), and 181+- 48.4 ?g/L and higher - to the stage IV (T3-4N0-1M1).
