The proposed method for measuring flow rate of gas or liquid at transient flow by using a flow rate meter is distinctive by determining the first and the second time derivative of the flow rate, determining the time interval (??) between two subsequent readings of the output signal of the flow rate meter according to the following equation: and the time constant (C) of the meter according to the following equation: , where is the second time derivative of the flow rate, and ? is the relative measurement error of the flow rate meter, and determining the number (m) of readings of the output signal of the flow rate meter according to the following equation: , where L is the time interval for the change of the flow rate. The proposed method is distinctive by its accuracy and performance in measurements.
