<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a device of a heat pump type water heater and to improve its outer appearance. <P>SOLUTION: A recessed part 18 recessed toward the inside of an outdoor unit 1 is formed on the back face 10a or the side face 10b of an outdoor unit housing 10 of the outdoor unit 1, and a connecting part 15 of water piping 3 connected to the outdoor unit 1 is formed in the recessed part 18 to miniaturize the device and to improve the outer appearance.
