A control method of a vacuum cleaner is provided to maximize collection capacity of impurities stored in a collection unit by installing a pair of press plates for pressing impurities of the collection unit. A control method of a vacuum cleaner comprises a step of moving one press plate(310) among a plurality of press plates installed at the inner part of a collection unit to one side of the other press plates, if operation of the cleaner is stopped. The one press plate presses impurities between the one press plate and the other press plate at a stop position. The stop position of the one press plate is a specific point where the one press plate is no more rotated.
