PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lessen a load in starting a compressor by completely performing cooling in the vicinity of an evaporator after defrosting operation and to curtail a temperature rise in a storage chamber while cooling an evaporator to the minimum. SOLUTION: An interior fan 7 is started before the compressor 8 is started after the defrosting operation, thereby cooling the evaporator 5 heated by a heater 6 during defrosting. The warm air (a) which has been cooled is circulated through a circulating passage 10 between an inner box 3 as the storage chamber and an outer box 2 formed of a heat insulator body. Since the interior fan 7 continues to cool the evaporator 5 without stopping until the compressor 8 starts, the evaporator 5 can be cooled enough to remarkably reduce the load in starting the compressor 8. The cooled warm air (a) is circulated through the circulating passage 10 not to flow into the storage chamber, so that a temperature rise in the storage chamber can be curtailed to the minimum.
