PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roll rotating mechanism using a gear type reduction gear for continuously rotating a roll at a constant speed. SOLUTION: The roll rotating mechanism 1 for continuously rotating the film winding roll at a constant speed comprises an Oldham coupling 4 laid between a wave motion gear reduction gear 3 and the roll 10. The Oldham coupling 4 connects a reduced rotation output shaft 34 to a roll rotating shaft 11 with a playαaround its center axial line 4a. When the roll 10 is continuously rotated at a constant speed, the Oldham coupling 4 is held with no play in a rotating direction R but the playαin the opposite direction to the rotating direction to transmit rotating torque. With the playα, the Oldham coupling 4 cuts off a vibration transmission pathway, thus preventing the transmission of vibration from the wave motion gear reduction gear 3 to the roll 19 and avoiding the event that great rotating irregularity occurs on the roll with the resonance of a vibration system.
