PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing device for a wheel, in which the life of a bearing is extended by enhancing sealability and durability of a seal. SOLUTION: This bearing device for the wheel is formed by installing the seal 9 in an opening part of an annular space formed between an outer member 4 and a pair of inner races 5. An outer seal 15 is installed on the end part outer periphery on the outer side of the outer member 4. This outer seal 15 is composed of core metal 16 composed of a cylindrical fitting part 16a pressed in the end part outer periphery of the outer member 4 and a vertical plate part 16b extending outward in the radial direction from this fitting part 16a, and a seal member 17 integrally joined to this core metal 16. This seal member 17 has a side lip 17a slidingly contacting with a base part 3b of a wheel installing flange 3 via a predetermined interference. An annular groove 18 is formed on the end part outer periphery of the outer member 4. The outer seal 17 is fixed to the outer member 4 by a caulking part 19 formed by plastically deforming an end part of the fitting part 16a to the annular groove 18 side. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
