PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suction throttle valve in a variable displacement compressor capable of fully securing a moving range of a valve element and setting a diameter of the valve element without any restriction by a valve seat. SOLUTION: The suction throttle valve 40 is employed for adjusting opening of a suction passage 32 in the variable displacement compressor which keeps a displacement variably controlled by pressure regulation in a crank chamber 14. This value 40 has a valve housing 41 guiding both a suction side valve element 50 and a control valve element 55 and the valve seat 60, wherein the valve seat 60 is provided with a fitting part fitted to the a seat part 61 and the valve housing 41, and the valve housing 41 with a fitted part, with inside diameter of the fitted part set larger than the inside diameter of the valve housing 41, and the inside diameter of the fitting part equal to or larger than the inside diameter of the valve housing 41. The fitting part is extended from the valve seat 60 in a guiding direction of the control valve element 55 and opposes the outer periphery of the control valve element 55 when the control valve element 55 abuts on the valve seat 60.
