Ubiquitin-proteasome system dysfunction related disorders are treated by administering to a mammalian patient an effective amount of phosphatidylglycerol presenting bodies of a size resembling that of an apoptotic cell or apoptotic body. Said phosphatidylglycerol presenting body may be liposomal while the ubiquitin-proteasome system dysfunction related disorders include dementia with Lewy bodies, Pick's disease, progressive supranuclear palsy, corticobasal degeneration, argyrophilic grain disease, frontotemporal dementia, Gerstmann-Straussler-Scheinker disease, spinocerebellar ataxias, spinal and bulbar muscular ataxia, dentatorubal and pallidouysian ataxia and Lafora disease.
