A vacuum melting furnace 3 heated by an induction coil 1 has thereabove a pressureequalizing chamber 10 with a valve 11 disposed below a turntable arrangement 12 by which chambers 13 and 14 carrying auxiliary equipment 14, 15 may be located at will in pressuretight engagement with the chamber 10 so that the equipment may enter the furnace. Vacuum pumps 5 and 18 respectively evacuate the furnace 3 and the compartment 10 and the furnace may be a beam furnace. The auxiliary equipment 14, 15 may include a charging device, a sampling device, a poker or an immersion temperature measurer. |
