In a modification of the method for removing dust from gases from a sinter installation of the parent Specification a partial stream comprising the hottest of the collected gases is treated with water from the washing step and in such an amount that the temperature of the thus treated gas and the remainder of the collected gases when combined is just above the critical dewpoint before it enters a mechanical or electrical dust precipitator, and the amount of liquid employed in the washing step following the mechanical or electrical precipitator is sufficient to supply the water injected into the partial stream and water for granulating the sinter mix.
