PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To raise a numerical aperture in an electro-optical device such as aa liquid crystal device. SOLUTION: A relay layer 93 has a protrusion 93a projecting from a non-opening area to an opening area, and the opening area is reduced in area by the portion of the protrusion 93a projecting to the opening area compared with the case that the protrusion 93a is not provided. However, a width of the non-opening area, of which the boundary with the opening area is formed by the other part except a central part of an area end 190 along the direction of X, can be narrowed by making the protrusion 93a project from the part (for example, the central part of the area end 190) of the area end 190 to the opening area, and it is thereby possible to raise the numerical aperture.
