PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spacer exerting superior mechanical strength even if a surface regulating the shape of the spacer is constituted of a curved recessed face; and a production method of the spacer. SOLUTION: This spacer is used for being inserted into a clearance formed by incising or opening a vertebral arch or a spinous process and expanding the vertebral canal, and is provided with: a front face 11 consisting of a curved recessed face, having at least one section inserted into the clearance, and positioned in the vertebral canal side with its inserted state in the clearance; a rear face 13 positioned facing the front face 11; a pair of side faces (abutment faces) 12 abutting on the incision ends of the vertebral arch or the spinous process respectively; and a through-hole 5 penetrating between the pair of side faces 12. In this spacer 1, the through-hole 5 has a curved section (a bend section) 51 curved projectingly to the rear face 13 at a midway portion in its longitudinal direction.
