The invention relates to a method for welding a plurality of structural components (1; 2) of a field device of process automation technology. The invention is characterized by at least partially introducing the structural components (1; 2) into the recess (5.1) of an external mould (5), and by at least melting one section (10) of at least one structural component (1; 2) inside the recess (5.1), thereby interlinking the components in a planar manner. The design of the recess (5.1) determines the external shape of the structural components (1; 2) welded together. The invention further relates to a corresponding device.
