[Also in Groups XI and XL (c)] A microwave cooker comprises a closed metal working chamber to which H.F. energy is fed by way of a hollow conductor 2 provided with radiating slots 4, 5, 6 and may also comprise an infra-red radiator 10 supported on insulators 11. The floor of the cooker is in the form of a more than #/4 deep trough covered by a multi-piece plate of non-laminar opal safety glass which supports the substance to be heated so that the microwave energy is able to penetrate the substance from all sides. The multi-slotted, corrugated plate 7 divides the chamber into two unequal sections to obtain a greater distribution of the microwave energy. |
