A powder for a sintered body of black zirconia is provided to obtain a sintered body of black zirconia having no dependency on sintering temperatures, showing high density and bending strength and excellent color tone, and exhibiting no change in color and pore generation on the surface. A powder for a sintered body of black zirconia comprises: 2-6 wt% of a colorant that has a spinel structure represented by a formula of (Co1-xZnx)(Fe1-yAly)2O4, wherein 0<=x<=0.5 and 0<y<=0.5, or is a co-precipitation product of Co, Zn, Fe and Al having a spinel structure represented by the formula after firing; 0.05-6 wt% of Al2O3; and 3.60-7.10 wt% of Y2O3.
