The device has a stream tube for gaseous fuel. The stream tube has a divergent flow section (2b) in the flow direction (V). A conveying device (1) is provided, by which the gaseous fuel is conveyed in the flow direction through the streamtube. A combustion chamber is provided downstream of the divergent flow section. A fuel system is provided for supplying the fuel into the combustion chamber and burning the mixture of gaseous fuel and fuel into a hot gas.
