REPRODUCTION DEVICE AND REPRODUCTION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reproduction device and a reproduction method which enable special reproduction by guessing correctly reproduction time per reproduction unit. SOLUTION: The reproduction device comprises; a VOBU number acquisition section 12 which acquires the number of VOBU contained in a title; a reproduction time acquisition section 11 which acquires the reproduction time of the title; and a reproduction control section 30 which performs special reproduction based on the number of the VOBU and the reproduction time. The VOBU number acquisition section 12 acquires the number of VOBU contained in the title based on the start address of the head VOBU and the start address of the last VOBU in the title. The reproduction control section acquires an average reproduction time per 1 VOBU from the reproduction time and the number of VOBU of the title as a unit reproduction time, refers to an address map of the VOBU based on this unit reproduction time and performs high-speed search and time search.
