<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a user interface having an understandable, visible expressiveness using not only characters or symbols but also graphics in a printer for a video signal having many setting items. <P>SOLUTION: This printer comprises a flash memory section for storing characters or symbols to be displayed on a screen, graphic information to be plotted on the screen and arrangement information in a built-in memory, and a microcontroller section for arranging the character or symbol information and the like on a memory of the built-in memory section through a memory controller section by reading it from the flash memory section.
