摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight device capable of preventing light utilization efficiency of a light source from being degraded, even when the thickness of a light guide plate is reduced, and to provide a liquid crystal display that uses it. <P>SOLUTION: Biconvex lenses (condensing lens parts) 15 and 16 for condensing light from a light-emitting diode 9 on a focusing point S are arranged on the light-emitting diode (light source) 9 side of a light-entering surface 11a of the light guide plate 11.
