<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight device capable of preventing light utilization efficiency of a light source from being degraded, even when the thickness of a light guide plate is reduced, and to provide a liquid crystal display that uses it. <P>SOLUTION: Biconvex lenses (condensing lens parts) 15 and 16 for condensing light from a light-emitting diode 9 on a focusing point S are arranged on the light-emitting diode (light source) 9 side of a light-entering surface 11a of the light guide plate 11. In order to totally reflect the light that has entered the light guide plate 11 via the focusing point S, on an interfacial surface between the outside and a light-emitting surface 11b or a facing surface 11c, when the light first reaches the interfacial surface, a biconvex lens (optical path adjusting part) 17 for adjusting the optical path of the light is installed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
