PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot water storage tank of a water heater having superior workability while reducing investment cost and providing sufficient heat retaining/heat insulating effects. SOLUTION: This water heater comprises the hot water storage tank 12 to which a plurality of pipes 13, 18, 23 are connected and in which the hot water heated by a heating device 4 is stored. At least an upper outer hull of the hot water storage tank 12 is coated with an expandable molding heat insulating material 32, and the remaining outer hull not coated with the expandable molding heat insulating material 32 is coated with a glass wool sheet heat insulating material 34.
