<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize distributed processing by enabling renting of resources to be restricted when distributed processing is carried out in a network-connected image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus (MFP) 1 communicates with another image forming apparatus and a server 3 via a network 2. The image forming apparatus (MFP) 1 manages the resources such as a CPU, a memory and an HDD. When a job exceeding a loaded resource capacity is supplied, distributed processing is carried out by borrowing resources loaded in another machine via the network. For restricting renting of the resources, a resource borrowing permission condition and a resource lending permission condition are set. The resources of the other apparatus are borrowed according to a resource renting condition, and the resources are lent to the other apparatus according to the resource renting condition.
