<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light guide plate and a backlight capable of increasing the illumination intensity of light emitted from an emitting surface as compared with a conventional one. <P>SOLUTION: This light guide plate includes: a light guide plate body 10 having an incident surface 103 for entering light from a light source therein, an emitting surface 101 arranged vertically to the incident surface 103, and a back surface 102 facing the emitting surface 101; and a transparent film 11 arranged on the back surface 102 and having a surface in contact with a gas. The light guide plate is structured such that, on the back surface 102 of the light guide plate body 10, a plurality of projections 102a or depressions extending in a direction intersecting with the normal direction of the incident surface 103, and each having a cross section formed into a circular arc shape; and the refraction index of the transparent film 11 is higher than that of the light guide plate body 10. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
