NEAR FIELD LIGHT HEAD AND INFORMATION RECORDING AND REPRODUCING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a near field light head which efficiently generates near field light while miniaturization is attained and whose writing reliability is enhanced. SOLUTION: The near field light head 2 is provided with: a slider 15 disposed in a floating state from a disk surface D1 by a prescribed distance H and having an opposed surface 15a opposed to the disk surface; a light transmissive core 16 which has a bottom surface 16a and an end surface 16b which are formed in a polygonal shape in a plan view and a plurality of side surfaces 16c formed by respectively connecting vertices of the bottom surface and the end surface and wherein the bottom surface is fixed to the opposed surface; a luminous flux introducing means 17 introducing a luminous flux L into the core from the bottom surface side; first and second magnetic poles 18 and 19 formed on the facing two side surfaces; a magnetic circuit connecting the first and the second poles; and a coil to which a current modulated according to information is supplied and which is wound around the magnetic circuit as a center.
