PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine a transfer format in accordance with difference in number of bytes of address information for designating an address in a slave in a serial interface. SOLUTION: A CPU as a master reads data written from specific addresses of respective EEPROMs after writing different data in the specific addresses of an EEPROM and an EEPROM as a slave, and determines transfer formats of the respective EEPROMs on the basis of the read data.
